Dr. Hany Bissada, Visiting Psychiatrist
Dr. Bissada is the Director of the Regional Centre for the Treatment of Eating Disorders at The Ottawa Hospital. Dr. Bissada is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He is the recipient of the 2009 C.A. Roberts Award of the Canadian Psychiatric Association. This national award was given to him in recognition for his work in establishing the eating disorders treatment program at The Ottawa Hospital, and for providing superior quality psychiatric care to his patients. Dr. Bissada completed the first randomized controlled trial examining the effects of Olanzapine, an atypical antipsychotic medication, to promote weight gain and to reduce obsessive symptoms among women with anorexia nervosa. The results of this trial were published in the American Journal of Psychiatry. His research interests include treatment outcomes, and medication treatment trials for eating disorders.
Dr. Vanessa Abdelhalim
Dr. Vanessa Abdelhalim grew up in Ottawa. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience at Carleton University, graduating with Highest Honours in 2007. She was awarded the University Medal for graduating with the highest standing in her faculty. She graduated medical school at the University of Ottawa in 2011 and completed her family medicine residency at the University of Toronto in 2013. She won two awards during her residency for projects that improved the quality of patient care. During her residency she also completed the Global Health Education Initiative program through the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Abdelhalim began her career working at family practice clinics affiliated with Trillium Health Hospital in Mississauga and St. Michael’s Hospital in downtown Toronto. She has also served patients at Youthdale, a children’s mental health facility and at Hassle Free sexual health clinic. She has been involved in medical education through medical student and resident training.
Dr. Abdelhalim is excited to be a member of Greenbelt Family Health Team and practice the full scope of comprehensive family medicine, from newborns to care of the elderly. She has a special interest in women’s health, prenatal care, pediatrics, and dermatology. She is honored to participate in Operation Family Doc, a program that connects Canadian Armed Forces families with a family doctor. She also currently practices at Carleton University’s Health and Counseling Services.
She is passionate about health and fitness and takes great pride in improving the wellbeing of her patients. She looks forward to working with you on your path to living your best life.

Dr. Ferrukh Faruqui
Dr. Faruqui graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine with a joint MD and Bachelor of Science In Medicine in 1987.She completed her residency in Family Medicine in Winnipeg in 1990.
She worked as an Emergency, Intensive Care and family physician in Winnipeg and Montreal for 9 years, then as an Emergency Physician in Winchester from 1999 to 2005. She practiced rural family medicine in South Mountain from 1999 to 2005, and family practice in Osgoode from 2005 to 2014 and joined the Greenbelt FHT in 2015.
Her interests include minor surgery, cosmetic procedures, and medical education.
Dr. Eric Fox
Dr. Fox grew up in Montreal and completed both a Bachelor of Science and his medical degree at McGill University. He subsequently completed his training in Family Medicine in 2009 at the University of Ottawa. He has worked in various rural and semi-rural locations since his graduation in 2009. He enjoys providing broad based care to all of his patients, but he does have special interests in minor surgical procedures, sports medicine, and medical practice management.
Dr. Jacqui Lauder
Dr. Jacqui Lauder grew up in Winnipeg, MB and completed her undergraduate degree in Sociology in Victoria, BC. She then obtained her MD at University of Toronto, and did her postgraduate training in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She is also a physician at St. Patrick’s Home, a Long Term Care facility in Ottawa, and is actively involved in teaching medical students at the University of Ottawa.
Her special interests include Women’s Health, Care of the Elderly, and Palliative Care. She is happily settled in Ottawa with her partner and 2 young children.
Dr. Karina Peters
Dr. Karina Peters grew up in Waterloo Ontario and completed her undergraduate degree in kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University. She obtained her medical degree at McMaster University in Hamilton and completed her family medicine residency program through the University of Ottawa. She is a member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Dr. Peters is happy to now be settled in Ottawa with her husband and three young children. She is excited to be practicing medicine with a fantastic group of colleagues!
Dr. Roozbeh Matin
Dr. Matin is a graduate of University of Ottawa School of Medicine and along with his family medicine practice he is also an emergency physician at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and his medical degree from University of Ottawa.
Dr. Matin completed his family medicine residency in 2008 and is a member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
His areas of interest include information technology, advance access, and minor surgical procedures. He grew up in Nepean and makes his home here with his wife Nadia and their three daughters.
Dr. Natalie Moreau
Dr. Natalie Moreau is a graduate from the University of Ottawa Family Medicine Program and she is a member of the College of Family Physicians of Ontario.
Originally from a small Northern Ontario community, Dr. Natalie Moreau did her undergraduate medical training at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and her family medicine residency training at the University of Ottawa.
She also holds an undergraduate Science Degree in Kinesiology and a Master’s of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology from McMaster University. She is bilingual (French / English) and has special interests in sports injuries, pediatrics, women’s health and medical education. While working at the Greenbelt Family Health Team, she continues to teach part-time at the University of Ottawa School of Medicine.
Since joining the physicians at the Greenbelt Family Health Team in 2011, Dr. Moreau has firmly planted her roots in the Ottawa region and enjoys all it has to offer. Dr. Moreau has also in the last couple years become the mother of two beautiful little girls, Hailey and Emily.
Dr. Caitlin Schwartz
Dr. Caitlin Schwartz is a graduate of UBC medical school. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto and her residency in Family Medicine from the University of Ottawa. Along with her family practice at Greenbelt, Dr. Schwartz is involved with medical student and resident teaching at the University of Ottawa. She is happily settled in Ottawa with her husband and two young sons, and is expecting her third baby in summer 2016.
Dr. Barry Smith
Dr. Smith was raised in rural Manitoba. He completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Winnipeg and a Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree at the University of Manitoba. He then completed his Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine training at the University of Ottawa. In addition to working at the clinic he also works in the emergency department at various hospitals.
Dr. Smith’s areas of interest include Comprehensive Primary Care, Emergency Medicine, and Environmental Health. He lives in West Ottawa with his wife and his two young children.
Dr. Kristy Staples
Dr. Staples grew up in the rural village of Baltimore, Ontario. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Science at Dalhousie University. She graduated from the University of Ottawa with her medical degree, and residency training, in 2005. She has practiced family, emergency, and hospitalist medicine throughout rural and northern Ontario. She has also practiced occupational health, addictions, surgical assists, obstetrics, and palliative care.
Dr. Staples lives in Chelsea with her partner and two step-children. Her special interests are in endurance training, specifically Ultra-running and Ironman.
Dr. Scott Tracy
Dr. Scott Tracy is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario School of Medicine. He was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario and completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Windsor. Dr. Tracy completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University of Ottawa in 2009. In addition to practising general family medicine, Dr. Tracy also holds privileges at the Ottawa Civic Hospital where he works as a Hospitalist. He is currently associated with the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, where he is involved with medical student and resident teaching.
Outside of medicine his interests including hockey, skiing, and travelling. He enjoys living in Ottawa with his wife Lyndsay and 3 young children.
Dr. Charles Zhao
Dr. Zhao grew up in the Ottawa area and received his Bachelor of Science and Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Ottawa. He then completed his postgraduate training in family medicine at the Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2003. In addition, he obtained his Certificate of Special Competence in Emergency Medicine from the University of Ottawa and is currently a Fellow of the Canadian College of Family Physicians.
Dr. Zhao has over ten years of clinical experience; along with his committed family medicine practice, he is also a physician in emergency medicine. He has special interests in critical care, medical education, and ultrasonography. He looks forward to raising his family in the nation’s capital while providing his patients with compassionate care.
Danielle Lalande, Clinic Manager
With almost 5 years of experience in the health care field, Danielle quickly transitioned from a Medical Office Assistant to a senior MOA and then onto her current position of Clinic Manager. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Translation from the University of Ottawa and provides freelance translation services in addition to working at Greenbelt Family Health Team. Originally from Sudbury, she moved to Ottawa in 2008 where she lives with her husband and young son.
Ainsley Charles, Executive Director
With more than a decade of experience Ainsley has made a career commitment to health care management. Her experience in primary care includes Family Health Groups, Family Health Organizations and Family Health Teams. She graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree from the School of Management at the University of Ottawa in 2005. Ainsley has served two terms on the board of directors for Rideau Community Health Services governing the Smiths Falls and Merrickville Community Health Centres. She lives in Smiths Falls with her husband and 2 young children.
Briana Black, Nurse Practitioner
Briana is a graduate of Queen’s University and the University of Ottawa. Prior to joining the Greenbelt Family Health Team in 2011, Briana worked as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
Briana sees patients in our Women’s Health and Hypertension Programs, as well as for same day urgent care.
Sally MacIsaac, Nurse Practitioner
Sally is originally from Prince Edward Island and is a graduate of the University of Prince Edward Island, University of Ottawa and also completed a Diploma at the Liverpool School of Tropical Diseases. Prior to joining the Greenbelt Family Health Team in 2016, Sally worked in Northern Alberta, NorthWest Territories, various First Nations Ontario communities as well as spending time volunteering in several rural Tanzanian villages.
Dr. Helen Pigeon, Pediatric Psychologist
Dr. Pigeon received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. She completed predoctoral internships at The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre. Dr. Pigeon has been providing psychological services to children and their families in the Ottawa area since 1993. She has held positions in various clinical settings including a behavioral unit for school aged children and a community clinic for sexually abused children. She has also held the position of principal psychologist in a group practice. Dr. Pigeon is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, and the Canadian Psychological Association
Dr. Pigeon joined the GFHT in 2013. She enjoys working collaboratively with family physicians and other allied health care professionals to facilitate continuity of care and optimal health for her clients.
Dr. Tracy Dalgleish, Adult Psychologist
Dr. Dalgleish provides psychological assessment, treatment, and consultation for adults using evidence based approaches (Cognitive Behavioural, Emotion-Focused, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal, and Integrative). She provides services to patients experiencing a variety of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, trauma, insomnia, self-esteem issues, and coping with interpersonal and personality-related problems. She also provides services for patients coping with acute and chronic health conditions (e.g., cancer, diabetes, HIV, chronic pain). Dr. Dalgleish emphasizes working collaboratively with patients to help them reach their goals. She specifically enjoys working as part of an interdisciplinary team at the GFHT.
Since 2008, Dr. Dalgleish has provided psychological assessment and treatment services in various settings including private practices, the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group, the Ottawa Hospital, and the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre. She is registered as a psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario with declared areas of practice in Clinical and Health Psychology. She completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology in 2013 at the University of Ottawa. She is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association and the Ontario Psychological Association.
Nicole Valiquette, Social Work
Nicole Valiquette, MSW, RSW holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Windsor and a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Laurentian University. She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Her professional background includes having provided counseling and support to individuals and families at Health Sciences North, both with Developmental Clinical Services and the Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. Nicole has assisted individuals in overcoming challenges associated with mental health and addictions in residential, clinical and school-based settings.
Nicole is excited to be working with family physicians and allied health professionals to enhance overall wellbeing in individuals through embracing personal strengths, enhancing resiliency and increasing coping skills in a supportive environment.
Brandy McDevitt, Dietitian
Megan is a graduate of the University of Ottawa nursing program, and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She spent many years as a Registered Nurse at CHEO, continues to work at a local Community Health Centre, and also enjoys the benefits of working at a Family Health Team in the community. She is a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Megan currently resides in Ottawa with her husband and two children
Melissa graduated from the Registered Practical Nursing program at Algonquin College in 2008. She’s had experience in both the hospital setting and family practice. She’s a member of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Her interests include women’s health, pediatrics and addictions/mental health. She spent her childhood in Kingston, moved to Ottawa in 1998 and now resides with her husband Jeff, and their two children.
